Formal attire, made for a summer evening in Mykonos. Here’s what that means.
What it means
Formal, with a summer state of mind. Think elegant dresses, tailored suits, polished shoes, and lighter fabrics and colours suited to an evening in Mykonos.
The ceremony and dinner will both be outdoors, followed by a late-night celebration. Dress for the occasion, but keep the Greek summer in mind: breathable fabrics, comfortable formal shoes, and perhaps a layer for the evening breeze.
Formal, not black tie.
No tuxedos required. Think elevated wedding attire with a summery feel—formal dresses and suits, without the formality of black tie.
Lighter is welcome.
Linen, silk, chiffon, cotton and lightweight wool are all at home here. Summer colours, prints and lighter suits are encouraged.
Dress shoes, please.
Mykonos means cobblestones, steps and terraces. Choose something polished that you’ll also be comfortable walking and dancing in.
For women.
Midi and floor-length dresses in elegant fabrics and silhouettes. Pair with heels, dressy sandals or elegant flats.
We’re keeping things formal with midi and floor-length dresses.
Colour and prints are welcome. Brights, pastels, florals and patterns all work beautifully for a Mykonos evening.
The meltemi (summer winds) can pick up after sunset, so a wrap or similar layer may come in handy later in the evening.
For men.
A full suit with a dress shirt and dress shoes or polished loafers. Lighter colours and breathable summer fabrics are welcome. Ties are optional.
Ties are optional. A crisp dress shirt with an open collar is completely appropriate. Jacket, however, is part of the look.
Dress shoes and polished loafers are perfect. Please leave the sneakers in your suitcase.
No shorts, polos, jeans or chinos with a casual linen shirt. Think summer suit, not summer vacation.
Colors, if you’d like a nudge.
No need to match anything. But the island has a palette, and it looks good on everyone.
